Five, Nicholas proclaimed, was the foundation upon which our true society was to be built. Laborers to till the land, to do the tasks: They shall have our undying gratitude, for they are the muscle behind us all. Merchants to buy and sell with fairness: They shall have our commerce and respect, for they are the bones upon which we are built. Technicians to build and fix the machines: They shall have our admiration, for they are the fingers with which we grasp life. Scientists to create and discover: They shall have our awe and our attention, for they are the mind of our society. And above all, the Warriors who protect: They shall have our cooperation and worship, for they are the blood and soul of us all. -- The Remembrance (Clan Wolf), Passage 67, Verse 26, Lines 21-37 WIDOWSCHAT!

 CLAN WIDOW MAKER HISTORY
« Result #1 on Apr 13, 2004, 6:20am »

Clan Widowmaker was absorbed by Clan Wolf in 2834. Clan Widowmaker long had an adversarial relationship with Clan Wolf, most notably expressed during the run-up to the Trial of Annihilation against Clan Wolverine, when the Widowmakers forced the Wolves to bid below the accepted cutdown. In the summer of 2834, the Widowmakers took brutal actions against their own civilians, leading Khan Jerome Winson of Clan Wolf to question their right to rule. The Grand Council agreed with Khan Winson and gave the Wolves the right to absorb them.

The Trial of Absorption, staged on Ironhold, had unforseen and tragic consequences. When members of the Widowmaker Touman intervened in a duel between Khan Winson and Khan Cal Jorgensson of the Widowmakers, the referees--led by ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky--intervened. Whether by design or by accident, Khan Jorgensson killed ilKhan Kerensky, sending the Wolf Clan into a frenzy of vengeance. The subsequent attacks, a virtual Trial of Annihilation, left few Widowmaker warriors alive.

Death and Absorption
It was during a Trial of Possession between Clans Widowmaker and Wolf that the merchants of Clan Widowmaker lodged a formal protest against their parent Clan with the Grand Council. The cause of the tensions between the freebirth merchants and their Clan is unrecorded, but the warriors' response is well documented. Mass arrests and the execution of the protest's leaders were carried out with ruthless efficiency.

Emotions on both sides were running high, and they reached a flashpoint when Khan Cal Jorgensson of Clan Widowmaker publicly accused Clan Wolf of having agitated the Widowmaker merchants to rise against their Clan. Khan Jerome Winson of Clan Wolf vehemently denied any involvement. He countered by claiming that Clan Widowmaker's massacre of its own people invalidated their right to govern. Clan Wolf demanded before the Grand Council that Clan Widowmaker be absorbed.

Clan Widowmaker eventually lost the debate, but immediately invoked a Trial of Refusal. Clan Wolf competed for and finally won the right to defend the Grand Council's decision.

The trial took place on the Steitz Plains of Ironhold. Widowmaker was defending with a Cluster of ten Stars against eleven Stars from Clan Wolf. Off the battlefield, warriors from the other Clans watched the trial through a system of monitors and satellites. The Khans of the Grand Council, led by Nicholas Kerensky, officiated the duel to ensure that the rules of this bitter battle were strictly enforced.

The initial exchange was fierce, with both sides committing large forces to frontal attacks. Well into the battle, Khan Jerome Winson and Khan Cal Jorgensson mutually declared a Trial of Grievance. As the combat around them gradually died down, two Khans squared off. When it became clear that Khan Jerome Winson was about to disable the 'Mech of Khan Cal Jorgensson, a Star of Widowmaker BattleMechs leaped into the Circle of Equals and attacked the Khan of Clan Wolf. Whether they attacked orders or on the spur of the moment will never be known.

Nicholas Kerensky and the rest of the Grand Council immediately moved to defend Khan Jerome Winson from this cowardly action. A moment later, one of Khan Cal Jorgensson's large lasers discharged at point-blank range into ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky's boy's thingypit. There is no way of knowing if the action was intentional. The melee came to an abrupt end as technicians and medics tried desperately to extricate the stricken leader from his 'Mech. By the time they reached him, ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky was dead.

In a fit of rage, Clan Wolf attacked Clan Widowmaker full force. The battle, which lasted for three days, was marked by uncompromising brutality. The Wolf Clan warriors, with the aid of the other Clans, tracked down and captured or killed all warriors of Clan Widowmaker. Clan Wolf emerged victorious and the Grand Council unanimously granted their demand to claim all Clan Widowmaker's resources.

The Widowmaker symbol, a red hourglass against the abdomen of a black widow spider, was removed from Clan records. It became synonymous with disregard for Clan rules and traditions. The bandit caste frequently uses the symbol as a sign of its independence. More recently, Khan Natasha Kerensky has adopted the symbol as her own, not because she is associated with the bandit caste, but because she believes that many Clan traditions hinder rather than help the Clans.

Story written by Angelicus and posted at request

The Acceptance

The insistent sounds of the klaxon brought Angelicus out of his stolen rest, dragging himself out of the bunk he hurriedly brought himself to full wakefulness, splashing cold water over the top half of his body. Pulling on his combats he poked his head round the door into the communal area he shared with the rest of his lance.

Illyana looked up from eating a hurried meal, “we’re at war” she enthused between bites.

“It’s finally happened then, The Brotherhood and Fallen One want a piece of our leader?” He asked.

“Yup, and they ain’t bothered who they trash to get to him. Anyone with Twisted Image markings is fair game…..” Swallowing the last bite, she gestured, “we’re all assembling in the main mess.”

Sighing and knowing he wouldn’t have time to eat Angelicus followed his second out into the corridor and down to where the rest of the clan were gathered. At the head table Mutiny sat with Underzero and the others. Standing up he addressed the ranks, telling them to fight bravely and damn the enemy to hell, never retreat never surrender. Angelicus had heard it all before, another motivational speech to spur the troops to unheard of actions against what might be a superior force. He grinned, it might be standard talk before a battle but this would prove to be one that would make or break the clan. After it was all done, the assignments handed out etc. Angelicus called the lance together, “we stick to one another today, and this is going to be bad.” They nodded and as a group they made their way to the lower levels and prepared the mechs for dropship transport.

As predicted the battle raged for a seeming age, one side would gain victory after victory, then all of a sudden would be driven back. The tide of the battle ebbing and flowing like a pendulum on a clock, as a newish addition to the clan Angelicus had been given the task of separating out the weaker members of BoS and FO and ensuring they couldn’t aid their clan mates should reinforcements be needed. Things seems to be fine, then over the comms… “dropships approaching our position, I count 3, no 4, no 5, they are deploying full tactical assault lances, marking unknown at this time, all TM lances regroup and await further Intel.”

*Fine* thought Angelicus, giving the signal to the others to fall back, *lets see what they got now*.

“Marking identified its Clan Widow Maker, they’ve deployed all Squads to this battle, looks like FO have called in their allies to help them, and I hope you all brought your bug spray.”

Laughter bubbles over the radio for a minute, but Angelicus wasn’t happy, He knew that with their clan Tech he wouldn’t be able to stand up to them. Contenting himself with the remainder of BoS and FO targets he awaited the battles that he knew would soon be coming to them. Predictably with their new allies to bolster the already growing force arrayed against TM, the defenders were pushed back and pack loosing city and combat units to the fresh onslaught. Till those fateful words came. “Mutiny has been hit, he’s taking damage, CWM have him, we can’t cope, send all Lance to these co-ordinates…………” Downloading the data transmitted to the NavComp, Angelicus opened the internal channel, “Ok Boys and Girls, prepare yourselves for a rough ride, this may well be it, make yer peace and let’s go hunting. All Mechs to Running speeds till further notice, long range scans and good luck.”

Pushing his Marauder, Angelicus lead this lance to the last known position of TM’s Leader, the smoke spiralled up as they approached the sounds of battle came from the valley below. Then blips appeared, 2 full assault lances. Angelicus look around at the motley assortment of his Lance, 3 Marauders with various PPC’s a scavenged Gauss Rifle, Heavy Flamer and Force Sword. With the usual crop of Med/Large Lasers. Two Riflemen, Two ghosts, Two Crimson Hawks and a Thug. May be more than the usual Lance of Mechs but he doubted they’d do as well against CWM technology. Still today was a good a day as any to die, and CWM would sure as hell not find him or his wanting in the honour stakes.

“We got company, and I think they know we’re here.” Came Illyana’s voice over their comm. Channel.

Angelicus tilted the view screen to look at the ground as he thought; there he saw a fallen TM banner. “Hay one of you lot with a hand, pick this banner up, affix it to the back of my mech, if CWM want a target I’ll damn well give them one.”

With a chorus of approvals the banner was attached to the back of the marauder, then turning to face the on coming blips Angelicus ordered his mechs to battle formation. “Illyana, who we got?”

“Scanning…… Owh sh*t, owh bloody hell and damn the ancestors…. You sure you want to do this?”

“What is it girl? Can’t be all that bad.”

“Yes it can, I’ve identified the markings, it’s Ward, for the love of oil, we’re facing of against the Khan’s own lance, and he’s got backup….”

“Indeed, well nice to know we’ve got someone of note to fall to. Charge…..”

With that Angelicus powered his mech up and launched the first volley in what would become a decidedly one sided battle. As explosions rocked, it became clear this would be the end …. Then Blackness fell and Angelicus smiled and looked over to the ancient Katana sitting on one side. *Honoured ancestors, I come to join you, with no shame and a glorious end.*

 Twisted Glory
« Result #5 on Mar 24, 2004, 12:10am »

Our alliance allies had called apon us in assistance with thier war effort. Collectively the 3 greatest Clans to roam the Galaxies waged war on Twisted Image. Pirate caste by nature thier defeat was imminent and once again our Legions rose above and beyond the call of duty.
The war was not a quick decision but one that was made after all the facts had been compiled and reviewed by the Kahns. We shall never let our allies go alone to the far reaches of our realms without our support.
In the end, Twisted Image is no more. The Clans spirit had been broke under the massive assaults launched continouse thru day and night. The members had scatterd seeking refuge in the Clans they had opposed and ones formed anew. A new chapter will be written for each member in thier rememberance.
